Spiritual growth is highly important when you find yourself on a twin flame journey. The connection with your twin flame is on a soul level which means you will be asked to come back to who you are as a spiritual being. You will feel guided to let go of everything (including baggage from past lives) that has prevented your true, authentic and spiritual self from coming to the forefront.
